SHEI MAGAZINE
Rendez-Vous on Film, A Study in Analog Image-Making
Editorial photography project examining analog image-making across multiple film formats.
Concept
As Creative Director of SHEI Magazine, it was a goal of mine and the Editor and Chef’s to do a shoot utilizing film photography. I led the research and conceptual development of the shoot, with a focus on working with film-based formats to evoke a vintage-inspired feel and to take advantage of the natural textures and beauty film brings.
Process
Polaroid | 35mm (Canon AE-1) | Disposable film
The project incorporates multiple analog cameras to examine how variations in format, grain, color, and exposure shape the final image. By embracing the unpredictability of film, the series highlights the role of process, chance, and material constraints in image-making.
Location
Set within a vintage-inspired interior, the environment was used not simply as a backdrop but as a visual framework to support the tonal and textural qualities of film. The resulting images function as a study in how photographic tools and conditions influence both aesthetic outcomes and visual narrative.
